We are all here to live every situation you can imagine, good or bad; right or wrong; positive or negative. Why? So we can learn from the experience as part of the adventure of life.  Murray Kibblewhite

A female friend of mine has fear so badly that she often goes into a depressed state where she stays for several days. She calls it the “Black Demon”.

Yes, she is having counselling which is working slowly, but she has still a long way to go. So, how can she overcome the fear that makes her so depressed?

One way is to try and understand her fear, pain and anger, as Gary Ziukav says in his book, “Seat of the Soul” page 237, “Each offers you an opportunity to see beyond the illusion that serves the balancing and growth of your soul.’

Further on he says, “Within each experience of pain or negativity is the opportunity to challenge the perception that lies behind it, the fear that lies behind it, and to choose to learn with wisdom.”

In my friend’s case her fear arose during her childhood in another country where her parents were very poor. This upbringing has made her now, as an adult, to operate with a “brave face” even though she is scared and fearful inside. However, her fear is easily triggered by seemingly small events and she falls back quickly into a depressed state.

Zukav says, “The fear will not vanish immediately, but it will disintegrate as you work with courage. When fear ceases to scare you, it cannot stay.”

When you choose to learn through courage, patience and wisdom, your fears surface one at a time in order for youto exorcise them with inner faith. You exorcise your own demons.

All life’s experiences are opportunities to learn. The challenge is to decide, what are the real lessons to be learnt?
