We are all here to live every situation you can imagine, good or bad; right or wrong; positive or negative. Why? So we can learn from the experience as part of the adventure of life. Murray Kibblewhite
CASE STUDY – WHY DO OPPOSITES ATTRACT?SUBJECT:Relationships
If opposites attract then how can you live with the differences?
Recently my assistant who helps with my Social Media activities told me she had had a serious argument with her boyfriend. She became so angry she threw her mobile phone at him! The phone was damaged and needed to be repaired making it an expensive disagreement.
Then she looked at me and asked, “What shall I do?”
I then recalled, to myself, the many relationships I have had and how there were times of disagreement. Why? Aloud I told her that most relationships are formed by people who are opposite giving rise to the saying. “Opposites attract.”
To her I asked, “Why is this so? Why do opposites attract?” She was silent thinking but did not give an answer.
So I started my explanation based upon what I could remember from the “Human Zoo” by Desmond Morris. Male and females in most species go through a pair-forming bonding ritual to prepare for procreation. The primary reason for becoming a “couple” is to create a family. So pair-forming is between two opposites – a man and a woman.
But what about opposite personalities being attracted? My answer is that opposites attract so together they form a balanced unit
Do you think that sounds right?
For example my son, who suffers from dyslexia, had difficulty completing secondary school because of his difficulty in reading and comprehension. However, he now has an excellent job as a Marketing Manager that his outgoing personality suits. His job includes travelling overseas every few months to develop sales and meet up with prospects and existing clients.
He is also happily married with a wonderful wife and two teen age children. However, she is a quiet introverted person who has a University degree and an IQ rating that is almost off the scale and she home schools the children. Completely opposite, but together an amazing wonderful family unit.
So what has she learnt?
She now knows that her future partner will be very different to her so they can have a balanced life. This means that both of them have to learn to live with the other’s differencesbecause together they are a balanced unit.
All life’s experiences are opportunities to learn. The challenge is to decide, what is the real lesson to be learnt?
How to use:-
1) Accept you need to change your Attitude and Actions on a daily basis.
2) Read, view, discuss and learn other ways. Set time aside daily to study.
3) Practice a new action until it becomes a better habit. Then tell your friends.
