MY KNOWING

We are all here to live every situation you can imagine, good or bad; right or wrong; positive or negative. Why? So we can learn from the experience as part of the adventure of life.  Murray Kibblewhite

CASE STUDY – HOW TO OVERCOME RESISTANCE? SUBJECT: Career

This morning my flatmate expressed his frustration at his work, or more specifically, his boss.

Does this sound familiar?

It seems his employer was “using him”. My flatmate had been asked, several times over past months, to collect and deliver Chinese tourist customers of the company. (He is in the travel industry.) This meant he had to work overtime to catch up on his own work. And he was not paid for the overtime he worked!

His frustration was causing him to become resistant to the orders from his boss.

What should he do?

In “The Tenth Insight” by James Redfield and Carol Adrienne page 92 and 93 they discuss resistance. “When you feel ‘unduly slighted’” and further on, “… you probably have an inner belief that demands ‘an eye for an eye’ justice.”The authors conclude,” Resistance might mean a shift is just around the corner.”

So I advised my flatmate to change his attitude from “resistance” to “acceptance”. With this change in attitude, he could look forward to enjoying the work as well as becoming aware of the potential new job opportunities through the network of connections he could develop.

I encouraged him to talk to each client and obtain their business card so he could communicate business opportunities to the customer or their associates.

To overcome any resistance my flatmate has to answer the question, “What am I afraid of?”

Learnings

So what is the learning?

My flatmate has to accept the concept of “synchronicity” and become aware of the business opportunities for him if he chooses to develop networks with his Chinese customers.

In this way, he can overcome the build-up of resistance arising from his frustration at his work.

All life’s experiences are opportunities to learn. The challenge is to decide, what is the real lesson to be learnt?

How to use:-

1) Accept you need to change your Attitude and Actions on a daily basis.

2) Read, view, discuss and learn other ways. Set time aside daily to study.

3) Practice a new action until it becomes a better habit. Then tell your friends.
