We are all here to live every situation you can imagine, good or bad; right or wrong; positive or negative. Why? So we can learn from the experience as part of the adventure of life.  Murray Kibblewhite

Last Saturday driving home from yoga class, I heard an interview on the radio that explained why I felt so happy.

The interviewees were Joshua Fields Milburn and Ryan Nicodemus, who call themselves “The Minimalists”. According to their website they have helped over 20 million people “live meaningful lives with less.”

Interestingly, they say, “Minimalists don’t focus on having less, rather we focus on making room for more:-

  • more time
  • more passion
  • more experiences
  • more growth
  • contributions
  • more contentment and
  • more freedom

Cleaning the clutter from life’s path help us make that room.”

Unknowingly, I have started following this philosophy, now living in a small apartment with little furniture, few clothes and reduced social life. As well, I have become an intermittent faster only eating twice each day, no alcohol, no drugs or smoking, and no week without exercise and yoga.

So, by giving up I have gained happiness.

Because now I can concentrate on the important things in my life, such as:-

  • Writing articles for my blog.
  • Helping my clients get into business.
  • Work with my business associates to set up new projects.
  • Listen to and help family and friends, and
  • Be mindful and aware of all events, experiences and people I meet.

Yes, cleaning out the clutter makes room to live, learn and become happy!

So what is the learning?

I learnt that by adopting a simple life I have become freer and happier.

Having more is a false understanding of happiness as it relates to using material things.

Happiness is an intangible aspect of your life made up of feelings and emotions form being free to enjoy all the experiences in your life.

All life’s experiences are opportunities to learn. The challenge is to decide, what is the real lesson to be learnt?

How to use:-

1) Accept you need to change your Attitude and Actions on a daily basis.

2) Read, view, discuss and learn other ways. Set time aside daily to study.

3) Practice a new action until it becomes a better habit. Then discuss with your friends.
